Annual Scholarship
The Portuguese National Club offers one or more scholarships for the current academic year. These scholarships are intended for current high school seniors who will continue their education during the academic year following their high school graduation.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must have been accepted to a 4 year program at a college or university. Applicants must be a son or daughter of a full member of the Portuguese National Club. The member must be in good standing for two years prior to the date of the application.
When is the application due?
Applications must be postmarked or received no later than the last day of March and notification will be given by the last day of April.
What are the candidates judged on?
All candidates will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Good academic standing
- Plans for continuing education
- Academic promise
- Good citizenship
The Board of Directors reserves the right on deciding the number of students contemplated and the total amount of dollars each candidate receives.
Are there any other requirements?
The application form must be accompanied by the following:
- A letter of recommendation from the student’s high school guidance counselor or teacher
- An official transcript of the student’s high school studies grades 9-12
- A personal statement concerning post secondary educational plans (100 words)
- Grade Point Average (GPA)
- MCAS scores (English/Math)
